From Burnout to Balance: My Journey As A Working Mom

It’s no secret that being a working mother is one of the most challenging jobs in the world. With society’s expectation of women to “have it all,” it can be difficult to find the balance between work and family life. I know this firsthand; as a working mom, I often felt like I was constantly running on empty, trying to do it all. But after years of feeling burnt out and guilty for not doing enough, I finally found a way to achieve a work-life balance.

Here’s my journey from burnout to balance.

The Struggle Is Real

The struggle for working moms is real; with long hours at the office and pressures from both sides, it can be hard to find time for yourself or your family. On top of that, there's an added layer of guilt that comes with being away from your children for most of the day. This feeling only gets worse when you're running late or are unable to make school events or other important activities due to your job commitments. It's a lot of pressure!

Finding My Balance

Eventually, I realized that my current lifestyle wasn't sustainable—I needed to make some changes if I wanted to find balance in my life. So I decided to start by cutting back on my hours; instead of working full-time, I switched to part-time and set boundaries around when and how much work I could do outside of my designated hours. This allowed me more flexibility with my schedule and gave me more time with my kids during the day.

I also started incorporating self-care into my routine; this included taking regular breaks throughout the day, going for walks during lunch breaks, setting aside time for relaxation, and making sure that I got enough sleep each night (something which isn't always easy!). These small changes made a huge difference in how I felt each day—I had more energy and felt less stressed out overall.

My journey from burnout to balance has been an eye-opening experience for me—and something that other working moms can learn from as well! While it may seem impossible at first, taking small steps towards achieving work-life balance is key; incorporate self-care into your daily routine and give yourself permission (and space) to take breaks throughout the day so that you don't feel overwhelmed or burnt out. By doing this one small thing each day, you'll be well on your way towards finding a better balance between work and family life!
